I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
This movie was really good. Visually amazing of course, thank you Tim Burton! We had previews for the new Harry Potter movie (the trailer makes me teary still lol) and for the Corpse Bride which looks fantastic.
The movie itself was really well done. They stuck to the book really well and added in a bit of a backstory to who Willy Wonka was, tres fab. Johnny Depp, even in kindof creepy WillyWonka mode still made me want to cry. Apparently I suck because I totally was teary during parts of this movie lol
The children were all really well cast as were the parents, Violet's mother was just scary lol. I loved how you see what the kids look like at the end. Some of the computer effects were a little much but I liked them overall.
The Oompa Loompas were tres funny. Not so creepy as they were in the movie from the 70's but I loved that the songs they sung were the Rold Dahl lyrics although to some very different tunes than I'd imagined lol... Someone had an aweful lot of fun making those, they're FULL of music references from the 70s and 80s
The kid who plays Charlie is the one from Finding Neverland and Johnny Depp is right, the kid is amazing, where do these little kids get all of their talent!?
I really liked the movie, it got 3 stars in the paper yesterday, I'd give it 4. The audience laughed at the whole thing (at the right parts) and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. There was even applause at the end which you rarely hear in a movie theatre these days.
**one spoilery thing ahead**
I loved when WW's father tells him that if he runs away he wont be there when he gets back and when WW comes hom his house is actually missing from the row of townhouses in which he lives. How brilliant is that? isn't that just a kids worst imagining?
and now I'm off to buy Harry Potter with Dell and then I shall read for the rest of the day. :)
