December 7 2007 is the tentative release date for His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass check it out!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this trilogy of books and have been so excited to see the movies. I wanted to see the play but while it was being put on in England I was a poor poor student and could not afford a trip to the UK.

The official movie site is here: http://www.goldencompassmovie.com/ and clearly I've just spent half an hour playing with the Alethiometer and so want one of my very own. I wonder if they'll be able to make these as promotional gadgets.

Hee! I was at the website only last week, trying to figure out what the Alethiometer was telling me. SO excited for the movie's release. I REALLY hope they do a good job.

I hope so too, these are some of the best books I've read and there are some huge ideas in them that I'm a little wary of seeing transcribed to film but I think it can be done :)

*yay* I'm sure as we get closer to the release date they'll be promoting this one a lot, you won't be able to miss it :)

Interesting! I've never heard of the books, but I'll have to keep my eyes open for them now since you've peaked my curiosity. Hopefully I can find the first one before the movie comes out!

You've never heard of these books? I know I reread them the year I was your roomie. They are definitely books you'd love! They're out in paperback now and not at all hard to find :)

Oh if you've not yet read the books you absolutely must! They're by Phillip Pullman: The Golden Compass, the Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass (in that order)

My dad bought my brother a set, and then had to get me my own because I kept borrowing my brother's and then had to buy his own because he kept wanting to read ours, this is how good these books are.

I'll put them on the list!
