So other than the fun wedding last weekend this week has been great so far!
Firstly I've solidified my NYC plans. I have to say the first of many thank yous to Ava and Julie who are letting me stay with them :) *hugs* I'll be there over the weekend of the BC/EFA Fleamarket, a couple of days before and a couple of days after. I'm not sure entirely about what shows I'll be seeing but the 4 that seem likely are: Mary Poppins, The Color Purple, Spring Awakening, and Curtains, which are all new shows to me and look to be an interesting assortment. I've been told that A Chorus Line is fun too so that may sub in for a show...
Plus I want to see The Cloisters and also do the Museum of Natural History to see the Mythological creatures exhibit and all sorts of little touristy things.
It's been almost 2 years since I was in the city, I'm very much looking forward to visiting again :)
and
Randomly last night my brother and I ended up at Evil Dead the Musical. We were just stopping by to pick up tickets for a later show as part of my birthday gift to him and we'd decided that we wanted splatter zone seats (because with a show like ED why would one want to sit elsewhere? ;) ) and they only night they had two of them available was last night. So we decided to just go for it. It was such a fun show! I haven't watched the movies since first year, my brother has never seen them. (I feel a movie night coming on ;) ) I could hardly remember the story so I think for both of us it was like a completely unknown plot. The songs are great, and catchy as anything! I loved the merch, didn't buy anything because now I'm saving for New York shopping, loved the entire atmosphere of the theatre, loved how many people were there in white tshirts waiting to get spattered! The guy next to me was one of those so he got spattered fantastically. Jack and I just got a little residual blood which I was okay with since I was in my clothes from work under the poncho (which they provide) and had to TTC home after, so looking like a murder victim wasn't high on my list of things to do for the night.
At any rate it's a great show, it's in TO 'til September 8th, not a lot of Spatter Zone seats left (a few single ones are left though) but there are other seats available and the theatre is so small and nice that I don't think there reall could be a bad seat there at all. It's definitely worth checking out before it's gone.
And lastly, the Serenity special edition DVD was released yesterday, I bought 2 (one as the other part of my brother's birthday present) the sales girl was a little concerened that I didn't realize I was getting the same thing twice... what kind of people don't realize that?! The sad thing is she has to ask because there must be a lot of cases where the person actually didn't realize they have the same movie/cd twice! Oh humanity makes me despair sometimes. At any rate the box looks shiny, I didn't even have a chance to open it yet, I may try to watch with the commentary on tonight :)
