Dec. 4th, 2005 07:57 pmI've been busy busy busy.
Friday after work I picked up Andrea and we rushed to my house so I could change out of work clothes and she could drop off her stuff and then we headed out to the Andy Kim Christmas Show (yes I am just that cool.)
When we got there it was just before 6 and we were SO cold and there was NO line up so I convinced Andrea to go into Blockbuster with me to warm up and because I have a love of random dvds. And what did I find there but Race The Sun. So amusing for me, and so I bought it.
Then we braved the cold, and lined up (only second in line.... it was too cold for many early people) and we hung out a bit. Saw random people coming in and out of the Mod. Smiled and nodded for some people who talked on and on about their love of Ron Sexsmith (he just doesn't do it for me at all. He is talented in his own right but still... just not something that I love just yet) Then we went on in.
The acts (such as Jully Black, Shaye, Danny Michel, The Hidden Cameras etc) were of course fabulous. Neal was right I did love Shaye, I want their cd.
Minor bad point, the couple next to me who talked through the first part of the show and everytime I looked at them they just ignored me.... so eventually I got fed up and asked them to quiet down. To which I got the reply of "what, we're not loud" but then they did apologise and shut up... mainly because they wanted me to hold their space while they went for a smoke and for another drink... but whatever worked.
Worse badness. The crazy Andy Kim fans. These people, well the few loud and crazy ones who were more notable than any sane ones there, were just too much. It was actually pretty sad. We had one woman push up between us (we were front and centre) for the last two songs to scream out to Andy Kim how much she loved him and when he finally touched her hand she started hysterically crying.... this woman was at least 50 and was just beyond fangirling. It was sort of horrifying. Actually it made for some interesting conversation afterwards when we realized there are performers we might still be seeing when we're that age... then again we don't scream and call out sexual innuendos now so I think we'll be okay. That's just rude.
They used real greenery on the stage.... so by the end of the night my hands smelled like pine.... I fiddle with things if they're infront of me lol.
Then Andrea and I went home, Neal went out, and we slept! It was my first long night of sleep all week so it was great.
