Nov. 10th, 2006 03:37 pmI take this moment to rant now about exactly how much I really REALLY dislike dealing with the Harboufront box office. Short version: Got screwed over for the second year in a row while buying Sarah Slean concert tickets.
( and the long verson... )
But what I will say outside of the cut is that last year I was able to move up from 7th to 1st row based on my promise to not tell why that happened. I was true to my word, didn't post it on the message board, and this year they totally screw me over with no recourse. So here's what Harbourfront didn't want me saying last year:
Ticketmaster allows them to sell some seats, not all of them. The first few rows (the number and placement of the rows vary) are property of Ticketmaster and only they will be selling tickets. So last year when people called in and were told that 7th row was the best available seating it was a complete lie. The first 6 rows were there, and are accessible to the Harbourfront box office, they're just not supposed to sell them.
Does this make me more fond of trying to support the venue and buying through them? Hell no, I'd just say sell all of the tickets on ticketmaster and just be honest about it rather than having people show up/call into the box office and be lied to. If they'd at least be honest about what was going on that would be one thing but last year they just lied and said everything was sold out and now this year I was told that Sarah Slean organized it all so to blame her if I was upset.
I'd rather blame the incompetent people who devised this policy (which applies to all shows there, not just Slean) and who continue to rip off the people who are trying to buy tickets from them. Had it been anyone else but Sarah Slean I wouldn't have bought any tickets and will not go to that venue for anyone else.
