Veronica Mars FINALE SPOILERS under the cut
WHOLY CRAP where to begin?
BEAVER?! WOW. I'll get back to that I just had to get it out of my system, again.
Anyways. What a dream sequence, hello massive cast overload. I was SO happy to see Lilly there. Ducan meh, Veronica's mom, meh because really when the actress refuses to come back because she feel she'd be under paid.. and then goes to make Chex commercials, I don't feel her pain. Whatever. but it was a great way to tie together Veronica's ties to the people she's lost. Also it was neat that it was a "how things might have been" idea and she was still with Logan even though Lilly was alive and Duncan was around. I liked that a lot. But yeah the tie between Lilly and her dad. Possibly the two most important people who have been in Veronica's life and at the time of dream number 2 thinking they're both dead. Definitely interesting to see that tied together.
Then, reality. Yay for Vinnie, he's too funny, it was great to see him around again, too bad Cliff couldn't be there helping to bail him out or something lol.
The entire Jackie and Wallace story line just was too much filler for me, I don't care. I mean it wraps up her character nicely BUT really that was done already with the idea she'd gone off to Paris. I don't see what the point was really. I would have rather seen more mystery stuff. Also flying to Paris from TO is hella expensive (and I've been looking lol) so flying there LAST MINUTE from California... What did Wallace rob the Sac & Pac?
Graduation was great to see, so good to see Veronica get cheers and for Clemmons to make a note of it to her. Awwww. Also "don't tape your passwords to the bottom of your stapler" hee. That is awesome.
Weevil getting arrested at grad was so sad. Honestly I teared a little, and was SO angry at Lamb (fantastic acting from both of them!) but hey he's alive so I'll take that gladly.
Okay so back to the main point BEAVER!? I totally thought it would not be him. He was on my list of "clearly it's not these people" because I thought it would become too much of the Mac show and not enough Veronica, but that worked out fine.
First of all, Kyle Gallner is an amazing actor. Hands down, the subtle shift in facial expression as he read Veronica's message to Mac, clearly brilliant. I still thought it wouldn't be him, I called it was just Veronica accusing half of Neptune of evil before the third act was up, but the show surprised me, which I love!
I am sad that it wasn't Dick. I made a Dick "Psycho Killer" icon a few weeks ago that I uploaded this morning to LJ just to be ready to use it.... and now I can't lol. AND he was wearing a yellow shirt so it would have all tied in with my yellow theory... although as a consollation I'll take that the scene in last years finale with Veronica and Beaver he was all lit in yellow... and the roof of the hotel had yellow lights.... and yeah. I'll cling to that idea quite nicely thank you. And how fun is it that Beaver gets shout outs in both season finale titles. Clearly awesome.
And yeah so it wasn't Duncan but as consolation he did have Aaron killed, ergo he did do something bad.
Oh and Clarence being called "CW" (initials I know) but maybe a hint that there's a third season? I can hope can't I?
Hmmmm oh props to Viv for calling the whole Beaver thing! Seriously, she's the only one I know who has been saying that Veronica got her STD from Beaver raping her. Viv, you are smarter than Veronica Mars.
And now of course it all adds up. I mean I don't like that this year the majority of fans called a lot of the big plot points (Woody being a child mollester, Beaver being one of the kids who got mollested... etc) I'd rather have had those things be a surprise but the show still pulled it all off. I can't wait to buy the DVDs and rewatch it all marathon style and watch everything come together.
Oh and Kristen Bell needs an emmy now. The girl is fantastic. The entire rooftop scene was amazing. Thinking her dad was blown up... gah. I totally thought he was dead. Viv was sure he wasn't (again the girl is bright) but I was having irrational character death fear.
I also thought that when Logan showed up and took the gun from Veronica that he was going to turn and shoot Beaver after he heard that he'd raped Veronica. Wow. Strong character growth there that he didn't. Not being able to say anything to Beaver to convince him not to jump was a nice touch as well. They didn't go cliche, because really, the kid would have had nothing to live for at all.
Musically I WISH they'd played Ashes by Embrace during that scene just as Beaver jumped... it would have tied things up very nicely.
Oh and POOR MAC. OMG I thought she'd be dead too, and was so glad to see she wasn't. Except for the emotional damage to that poor girl. It looked like she thought Beaver was playing a practical joke on her. Like she thought Dick and his friends were about to show up and laugh at her or something. So horrible. But alive which is good. Still that's going to mess her up.
Oh and we have LoVe again :) and it works so well, nothing too overdone about it. They let it develop this season and I like that. It was very well played. Logan just being there for her was awesome. And it'll be neat to see next season start with them together, as long as they don't do it á la flashback like this year.
So what is Kendall paying Keith to do? dun dun DUN?! I'm curious about that but for not I'm on information overload. SO much happened!
PS I so thought I was going to get my fun idea of Aaron having to save Veronica, alas it was not to be, but for a moment there I thought I'd guessed something right ;)
And now that it's all over I can't believe we have no new episodes until the all! le boo :( Hey, Rob Thomas, remember that show 90210 when it needed more ratings they ran summer episodes.... I'm just saying is all ;)
Oh and I saw my first mega spoiler for this episode this morning, someone titled their icon post "omg Beaver"... it had no icons of the finale in there, but I guess they just wanted to get that in there.... mean.

Date: 2006-05-10 03:39 pm (UTC)hello massive cast overload
But no Meg. *grumbles* That's all right, they're just saving her up for NEXT YEAR. *roffle*
I was a little disappointed that the consensus about the molestation was right just because it seemed so obvious. But hey, in my VM world, Meg comes first, everything else second ;) So as long as Meg's left alone, I'll take the molestation and VD coming from Woody to the Beav.
*sigh* SO much.
And I agree so much with your musical selection, but you already know that!

Date: 2006-05-11 12:42 am (UTC)I think that the molestation was SO predictable. Who didn't see that coming? BUT Beaver raping Veronica was a surprise for me!
hee a music video is halfway worked out in my head.
