Movies movies movies. Hee firstly on Thursday I introduced Nomi to the entertainment that is Reefer Madness the musical. I really really enjoy that movie, the freaking dvd has all but disappeared from shelves so I'll have to order that one eventually. We noted on our walk for candy for the movie that we live near to the Polish Governor General. There are some amazing houses near to us.

Then last night was Nomi's bday so we went to go see Bon Cop Bad Cop for her :) From the trailer my reaction had been "that movie looks pretty good for a Canadian movie" meaning that a lot of Canadian movies are GREAT but don't have the budget to pull off all that they wanted to do, but this one was really really good. I was super impressed and will be buying the dvd. There was a little bit of everything in there. I was highly entertained the whole while. I was no impressed by the couple who came in late and then had their cell phone ringing (on vibrate mind you but still I could hear it) for parts of the movie. I dunno I'm of the mindset that if you can't make it on time then catch the next show.

And now I've finally got a virusscan program for my computer again so I'm running that and hoping that I haven't downloaded anything too funky in the past little while.

Men with Brooms is the first thing that comes to my mind. Except that, IMHO, they did perfectly well with the budget they had.

I've never even heard of Bon Cop Bad Cop; what's it about?

I think they do well with the budgets they have but often I feel that if given more money they could have done more. Even the movie Ginger Snaps, I remember everyone who saw the first one said the liked it but the ending was very "Canadian" it was more of a thinker. I liked the ending a log, even though I concluded something entirely different from everyone else lol but it's obvious that there are similar movies that get a much bigger special effects budget.

Bon Cop Bad Cop is about an Ontario Cop and a Quebec Cop who are forced to work together on this murder case that centers around hockey. It's funny as hell and also has lots of adventure, some angst, sex, tears... just everything, and a pretty good storyline, it's got the fine points of Canadian films (that they make you think instead of just mind numbingly watching) but it appears to have had more budget to keep it looking flashy to attract more audience :)

We make it a point to show up way early for a movie; often we're the first ones in the theater. Why go through the stress of arriving late, and for that matter why miss the beginning of the movie? Or the trailers for new films, for that matter, which are sometimes more entertaining than the main feature.

Excellent, you are the type of people I like at the movies. I hate being late myself, I like to get settled, and then see trailers (which I love.) Showing up late just makes me feel all rushed.

And I adore Reefer Madness, but sadly none of my RL friends share my excitement for it. It's certainly not as much fun to watch alone.
