elizalavelle: (Sarah Slean - have the ravens come)

Auto show work is done :) Yesterday was a much harder day, still fun, but I now realize how spoiled I was on my first day because I got to sit down for part of the day, yesterday was 10 hours of walking, I know I sat down here and there because my shoes just were not cutting it at all but I was up and mobile for at least 9 hours, probably more. (not counting the time getting to and from the show of course) My poor feet are not used to that, office work has definitely spoiled me. But aside from sore sore feet and a cut finger (from Friday) I've come through unscathed and quite happy :) I got my awesome lemonaid yesterday and enjoyed the social experience. What is learned from these type of shows is that much of humanity sucks and will be rude to you (or creepy... and yes I mean you random man who took a picture of myself and the girl I was working with from 30 feet away, I did see you and that is so creepy) but there are wonderful people and when I can just focus on those things are good :) Plus the people I've worked with both years are just wonderful so I cannot complain at all :)

In random Slean news, that Kingston show I was hoping for isn't happening. I had accepted as much because Sarah had said previously that she didn't know of the show and wasn't doing one. The promoter so shot himself in the foot with that one, not impressive. I'm even less impressed with the fact that yesterday all mention of the Slean concert was taken off of the promotors website (www.rockcrew.ca) but they neglected to post any information about refunds. It's like my own mini Flan experience. However I'd been expecting something of the sort and already researched my chargeback rights on Thursday and I'm good to file for one, I'll be calling the company on Tuesday and if they can't refund me then they'll get to pay a lovely fee and I get my money back. The promoter will never email me back except the one time he was promoting the SECOND show once again without having a confirmation from Sarah's agency (clearly the first time this backfired for him was not enough to teach him to have a contract before advertising) and I'd emailed him mentioning that I'd ask Sarah about it personally and he immediately emailed me back and the advertising was taken down. Other than that any inquiry I've sent about the show has been ignored.

yep, but there is a lovely note saying:

"All tickets are non-refundable, unless there is a cancellation...(cut)...
Refunds will be available for 14 days after the show date. Exceptions may only be given if requested in writing during this period."

Which means anyone else, without the knowledge we have, will go to the site and think they're out of luck with a refund. Not good.

I saw that and was ticked off. I think when I speak with Bryan I (Tuesday) I'm bringing that up. Because that may be his rule but he should know that for cancellations that's not a rule he's technically allowed to follow if people bought tickets by credit card.

I think he's now trying a little scam really, nothing was posted about the Slean show (or taken down about it) until more than 2 weeks after the show date, I'm sincerly not impressed at all.

Nice :) Then I know it is possible. Bryan keeps ignoring my emails to him but I'm home on Tuesday so I shall call and inquire.

Eek -- I go around taking random pics of people. Maybe I should consider myself fortunate that I've never been beaten up. :-(

LOL either that or you're more stealthy than the guy who I saw taking pictures was. I'm just personally not fond of strangers taking my picture.

don't say cheese

No, I'm open with my photography, since I'm not doing anything illegal. It's usually at public events like festivals or JillyH2009's show choir competitions, where people would expect to get their pictures taken anyway; or at fire scenes where we take pictures of crowds in case an arsonist has returned to view his handiwork. But I can relate to how you feel; while I don't worry much about privacy issues, I just plain hate to get my picture taken. That may be why I became a photographer!
