So this week was the week Teacher's College decisions came out. As you've not seen me spazzing on here clearly I didn't get in. I'm waitlisted but with the double cohort year and with there being too many teachers now in Ontario, I'm not counting on that wait list moving at all. Boo urns. However I'm glad that I managed to get on the waitlist because it says that a school knew I had what it took for the program which I think I needed to hear from an official source.

I gave myself a couple of days to wallow and feel sorry for myself... and to do some panicing of the "what the hell am I going to do now" variety and am now much much better. I'm working on finding a teachers college in Buffalo that I want to attend and then working that out. Finacially it'll be a world of suck but I refuse to be told that I can't do this.

If anyone has any advice or helpful stories I'm all ears :) *goes back to researching schools*

"I refuse to be told that I can't do this."

There you go ... you've got half the battle won, when you've got perseverence. *hug* Good luck.

Thanks :) I don't like to lose and I have a history of doing things the hard way so this just fits with who I am I think, but it means that I'll appreciate my degree a lot more when I get it :)

Hm ... I've been known to do things the hard way, too ... should we really be proud of that? *grin*

LOL I'm not sure ;) I would like to do things the easy way sometimes but perhaps this way is more character building ;)

character building

I suspect there's a fine line between character building and crazy, but if you just take one step over the line you're okay. :-)

Teacher's colleges admission requirments are ridiculous. Who says a 95% average will make a better kindergarten teacher.

How much do schools in Buffalo cost, anyway?

I think you should go to London. Look here: http://www.teach.on.ca/ttraining.php

There's an info session on April 14 at the Hilton. I don't think it costs much more than Buffalo would, When I went, for tuition and board was about 12,000GBP, about $25000.

You and I should chat about this option tomorrow. I want to go to school in September which makes the deadline a little tighter for international schools no? Did you try to find work back here with your degree? I know that I want to ultimately end up back in TO to teach, that's the long term plan anyways... I should go to the info session for sure though!

No, I think their deadline is later, you would have to go look into it. Give it a think. The degree is good here too, though I'd already decided I didn't want to teach before I returned, otherwise I'd still be in England. The TEACH program is specially designed for Canadians who want to do overseas studies in teaching, so they have things worked out. Have a look, give them a call, maybe go to the info session, though I think you'd need to book a place.

Last year a friend of mine got waitlisted for teacher's college here in Southern Ontario and she was devestated. After doing some research though, she managed to get accepted into Teacher's College in Austrailia. Could this be something for you to look into?

That's another place to look into. I'm definitely going to find a way to go. I'm looking into various international options now :)
