elizalavelle: (can we fix it?)
ARGH! Zion (roommate's kitty... now my foster kitty I suppose) was walking on my computer keyboard last night which I think is his fun way of waking me up in the middle of the night. It definitely works. But last night I had my computer on when he did it and now it won't recognize any USB device that I plug in. This of course includes my new external harddrive with all of my music and fun stuff on it AND my new DVD burner that I've not even had the time to try out yet! FRELL!

Ideas anyone? I know I'm probably going to have to take the computer into a shop somewhere but it's not under warentee anymore and the idea of trekking a desktop all over town is not a happy one at all.

Fantastic Shindig tonight :) New venue with tasty food. I felt so bad for our poor waitress, she was the only one working that night and the front of the house was packed and then there was a room full of Browncoats in the back. She was almost run off of her feet!

I got to chat with lots of people as well as having complete fandom overload: Farscape season four, Buffy comic (*Mel I owe you a fic, prompt me with something and I'll see what I can come up with :) * ) and Broadway DVDs! I don't even know where to start! No that's not true, I totally read the comic in the middle of the Shindig. I took a brief antisocial moment and gave it the first read through :)

Many fun conversations all night. I really do like the Browncoats, they're all such interesting people! As is becoming the norm Tom, Jo and myself finished out the night, we went to Second Cup after we finished up at the pub :) They're already planning for me to get hooked on Babylon 5 next, and also Battlestar Galactica, I shall be kept very busy for the next few months with new television I believe.

Time for bed now, Zion is having a minor spaz now that I'm home. His mommy is out of town this weekend so he's a little anxious. Add to that the fact that I've started cleaning out my room a bit and so his space is being reorganized.... all of this apparently leads to him needing to bat my lip gloss down the hallway. I'm going to be finding my stuff all over the apartment I think. Good thing he's an adorable cat :)

Time for bed and then I'm going swimming tomorrow, I'm so excited to swim, it's been over a year since I last went. I passed on most summer activities last summer because of my leg (allergic reaction to my parent's dog/possibly something else in their house) but it's almost completely healed this year so swimming is back on the list of things I can do :)

[livejournal.com profile] browncoat_2x2 rocks my world! She bought me the very last copy of the Buffy comic at her local comic store. *SQUEE of geeker joy* So on Saturday I'll get to buy it and read it and be a huge Buffy geek :)

In other news my roommate's cat is adorable. Poor little guy fell off of my chair and I think his toe is hurt. Then I was cleaning (*gasp!* I know! but I have to start thinking of moving, and getting rid of a lot more stuff!) and so I cleaned out the duffle bag under my bed which he was using as a bed (one shirt in there has to go now due to the fact the part of it which Zion slept on is solid orange fur LOL) and since that was his favourite day bed he was miffed. I made it into a new bed with a blanket (stolen from UofS) which I plan to get rid of when I move so he can orange that up all he likes. Still he was a miffed kitty. Until I gave him the plastic role my quarters were kept in, now he has a thrilling new toy and I believe I am forgiven.

New Grey's Anatomy tonight *yay*

And sorry to everyone I was on MSN with this evening, my computer apparently likes to freeze if MSN is open and I'm trying to read the recap for last week's Grey's so I'm staying offline after it froze everything once.

One more day left until yet another long weekend :) I love having the vacation time but I'd also love to have the quiet time. This also throws my routine for work so I'm all out of sorts until I'm back in a regular routine.

A note to my roommate's cat. You're cuteness decreases by approximately 87% when you wake me up 25 minutes before my alarm goes off (this is 5:50 am) by purring beside my head and poking me in the head. Not my most favourite thing ever. Probably not his favourite thing ever now either as this results in him being pushed off of the bed.

Oh and a friend at work told me that WalMart was having a massive DVD sale (box sets 2 for $30!) so I went to check that one out by the WalMart nearest to me didn't have anything good really. I picked up The Craft and Center Stage both on sale though because those will be fun :) I was going to watch Center Stage tonight but it got too late, perhaps tomorrow night when I can stay up as late as I want to :)

Then I decided to walk up the road a bit to Chapters to spend my giftcard :) I bought Hannibal Rising by Thomas Harris. I'm curious to read it before the movie is out and I have a soft spot for the Hannibal character... I also spent almost an hour wandering the store. One of the things I discovered to my absolute delight was that Five Little Peppers and How They Grew has been rereleased! I love that book, it was one of the dear dear ones from my childhood that I've read and reread over and over. I wonder if this means they'll put out the rest of the series? I had a moment of rapture when I saw that book was still around for kids to read :)

I'm actually almost through Little Women :) However I'm almost to the point where I cannot safely read it in transit (Beth) so I think I shall leave that one at home tomorrow and choose something else for the bus ride.

And on that bookish note I'm off to bed :)
