I watched The Village last night finally.... how unimpressed am I? It had that make you jump kind of scary feeling about it but there was not much that was substantial there.
Okay. So this movie was the kind of thing to make me jump when the scary music played and the "monster" ran by.... but then again I Know What You Did Last Summer was able to scare me that much too. I think that the director (whose name I don't think I can spell without looking it up and I'm burning a cd so I don't want to open an explorer window) is trying far to hard to have all these big twists in his movies. It worked really well for The Sixth Sense and even Unbreakable.... but I've heard that Signs wasn't great (haven't seen it yet) and I guessed the major twist for The Village the second they mentioned the "Towns" I was like "oh this is totally the present day and these are a bunch of crazies living in the woods to avoid real life." annnnnd I win! I did sort of believe in the monsters (because I like to believe) but I'd guessed that the monsters might be modern day people... so I missed on that one. The only other thing that somewhat fooled me was when the girl is being hunted by a creature in the woods after we learn that they aren't real at all... I thought it was one of the elders in costume because they were angry that she'd left the village.... so I was wrong on that. But what kind of stupid people put the extra monster suit under the floor boards of a room used to punish children and the mentally challanged Adrien Broady? As if being locked in a little room wouldn't lead a person to explore.
At any rate I was not very impressed with that movie at all. The only scary parts were when the music told you it was supposed to be scary, it wasn't very lasting.
I did have nightmares last night though despite The Village lacking in scare factor. They were more of a C.S.I vibe though. I don't remember a lot of what was going on but there was some crazy killer kidnapping kids...
I'm burning cds for Geoff....my computer gets unhooked tonight so it's my last chance to get them done. Someone stole his copy of Still I Can't Be Still when he leant it to them, who does that!? So I'm making him a new one, he did pay for it originally so it's all good.
I'm not finished packing all the stuff that needs to be packed up for the car tomorrow. I didn't get the Wicked promo tapes copied last night so tonight I have to do that before the VCR gets packed. I only have one of the two boxed that I'm allowed to send up packed and I haven't unhooked my computer or tv at all. Tonight will be a mad packing panic I think. Saturday will be an even more mad packing panic because that's when everything has to be packed to go.
Okay I really really have to go get ready for work now... have to leave in a few minutes.
