My computer is back and working... after many calls to the computer people. Today they kept telling us it would be ready "within the hour" "in ten minutes" etc and then they just wouldn't call back. Finally it was ready at 4pm today (although the original estimate was that it would be done YESTERDAY) and I have a computer again. At least it was super cheap to fix it. I'm not entirely confident that they know what they were doing because they had a hard time explaining it all to me. For example the Norton antivirus program which I only installed last week caused the problems that started at least a month ago... ??? WTF no. Whatever, I have a computer, and if it messes up this weekend I'm free to bring it back again.
I missed the Idina icontest submission by an hour! grrr, I thought friday night meant by the end of friday night, voting is on Saturday and Sunday :( apparently not, I was late. I made good icons this week too... I'll just post 'em in an Idina group :)
What else have I missed out updating... oh yeah, last week Brady said she'd switched seminars and she had the same one as me and it was this week (on thursday actually) and I thought that no, mine was after reading week... so I didn't worry. Then when I was cleaning I found the sheet of seminar topics and I had the January 20th one underlined so I freaked out thinking that I had a seminar and 20 page paper due the next day... and my computer was already in the shop so I had NOTHING to work with. So I went out to the school in the freezing cold to see the signup sheet and apparently I'm not completely dumb, my seminar & paper aren't due until March 10th :)
Also I didn't get charged a late fee for paying my tuition late... apparently their system went down last week, which would explain the very long non-moving line that was there last friday when I went to pay... and so they can't charge late fees because it's their fault that some people are paying late. The secretary I delt with was really bitchy about it, and didn't really explain what was going on. I came in with my cheque and asked if I could pay the late fee on my credit card. All I get for an answer is "no" and she goes back to entering in my cheque info into the computer. So I'm standing there, a little taken aback, and I asked how I could pay the fee and she answers "are you a full time student" (I am) "then there's no charge" and she finishes with her computer and walks away.... I'm standing there going "okay..........." weird people here, not friendly.
I watched the presidential inauguration yesterday. I was really unimpressed. All of the security that was there just gave me the feeling that while he was preaching freedom he was living in a police state... freaky. Also the man is possibly one of the worlds worst public speakers... he reads his speeches like a highschool freshman reads Shakespeare. He stops at the end of every line.... not following the punctuation at all. Eek, not pleasing to the ears. Remember: "George Bush is only FOR NOW" - Avenue Q.
