First things first, my computer appears to be fixed, at least the D:drive has been removed and so far so good :) I did manage to save almost everything from the drive due to it healing itself half way through the recovery process. Odd, but I won't complain. My brother came over last night and took out the drive. He's also decided that he quite likes our apartment, he hadn't been over since we still had boxes all over so it's quite a change.

So now with the fixed computer I must catch up on LJ.... that's my assignment for tonight.

Maybe Mercury was in retrograde. the last time that happened, my computer kept shutting itself off, my pda kept freezing, and my phone wouldn't ring. As soon as it went back in the proper direction, all that sorted itself out. I'm now a believer. ;)

Hmmm interesting. As all of my first year astronomy knowledge is pretty much gone I'm going to believe you, far more interesting anyhow :)

They say there are only two kinds of computer users: Those who have lost data, and those who will. Looks like you're one of the lucky ones, this time around.

I also once had the experience where a badly crashed hard drive just came back to life, all by itself -- it's the same one I'm using right now, years later. Needless to say, I'm a lot more careful to back up after that, although the only way I have to do it right now is on CD ROM, so it's a pain. Our new laptop has a DVD burner, which will be nice for storing lots of info.
