Well, I've been having fun looking up 90210 stuff on youtube.com. I'm going to have to buy those dvds eventually. Hello Ebay :) I cannot believe that the studio didn't get them out faster. They're losing so much money by not buying the rights to the songs that they need. Also how addictive is youtube once you get going on that site. I've been watching fun clips like woah.

Sarah Slean has added another show this summer, July 19th in Huntsville. It's a Wednesday and out of town so that's totally out of the question for me. I'm still hoping that we get a random TO show this summer as well :)

It's the Serenity charity screening in TO this Saturday! (www.canadianbrowncoats.com) I can't wait to see it on the big screen again! I have no brown coat... but perhaps I'll go for my brown sweater or something, must be in theme somewhat.

I think that's it for tonight, I'm off to freak myself out with some Xfiles and then go to sleep. Although last night was the ep Paper Hearts and I think that was a two parter that was more sweet than scary...

Total randomness from the weekend:

There are some calling card ads up in the Yonge/Bloor station which advertise the cities you could call and New York and Sudbury are both in really large print and right next to each other. It squicks me out. One of my most favourite places next to one of my least favourite places.

and in gross news on the way out of the bus station after seeing Nomi onto her bus I was walking through the other bus lineups and thought I saw some guy pouring a coke on the ground while he was in line, which was odd. Then I realized he was vomiting, a LOT, as in could have filled a bucket amount. I felt badly for him because that's a crappy way to feel when you're travelling, but I had sympathy for the poor people in line around this guy.

I am getting very excited for the Serenity screening at the end of the month :)

Starbucks makes Molasses Crinkle cookies (although they call them 'Molasses Ginger') whatever, those are some of my very favourite cookies that I need to learn how to bake. Also I want to get the recipe my grandma used for her chocolate chip cookies but I think that's one that is just to the ages, so I'll have to experiment for that.

Apparently Everclear have a new song called "Hater" out now. Those guys amuse me.

I'm not enjoying the insane amount of realitity tv that's on in the summer season. I'm just going to watch DVDs until next fall lol.

Bedtime

I've had such a fun weekend! Hanging out with Jo yesterday and then today I met up with [livejournal.com profile] star_material for lunch and it's so nice to meet up with LJ friends :) Also it's fun to have another person to gush about all things VM related lol. And soon Firefly/Serenity ;)

Oh I'm going to start doing some friends only posts to give away my stuff as I get closer to moving (starting tonight) so be sure to sign in. I have SO much stuff that I just can't move and I'm already going to need to get storage space for my books, that's my luxury, everything else must go :)

Office work is making me crave excercise lately. That's my goal for after moving, at least buy some work out DVDs and get on that. I'm not a gym person but I need to be moving more than I am now. Walking is great and I've been totally on track with that this past week :)

It's also getting to be yardsale season. I'm looking out for fun apartment things. Mostly storage space for books and dvds. Thus far I've just seen people selling a lot of kids stuff, toys and clothes. Not so much for me. Viv when's the big sale on your street? I liked that one. Too bad you're not selling your old furniture this year lol.

Firstly, any TO (or near to TO) Firefly fans, do you want to go to the charity Firefly screening on June 24th with me? Everyone I know thus far is going to be out of town, darn summer vacations that I don't get to take lol. So if anyone thinks they may be interested leave me a comment :)

I got out of work super early today :) Well I put in a full day but I didn't stay my extra hour and I had gone in early, so I was out by 5 and treated myself with DVD buying :) I finally decided to pick up the Without a Trace DVDs that I always see in the Blockbuster by the Mod Club. They were still there (yay) and were marked at $39.99, oh and I also saw Dirty Dancing so I grabbed that one too lol and then when the total came up it was just over $34, my WaT DVDs were way marked down, $22.98 very sweet. I was reading through the booklet on my way home, oh the good old days of season 1 when the show rocked hardcore. I do wish they'd put out season 2 on DVD as well. Grrr.

Ugh I do not like early morning Subway travellers. There was a guy on the subway today who smelled so terrible, as in half way down the car it still reeked. And he wasn't homeless or crazy looking, he looked pretty average, but he stunk. I'd hate to be stuck working with him.

Oh and I found my dream neighbourhood. I walked down to College from Christie station and the houses are just amazing! I want to live there very much. It does look expensive of course. I remind myself of the Cordelia quote, wanting things "not because they're more expensive, but because they cost more" hee.

Just finished rewatching Serenity. I came into this fandom totally backwards so this was the first time I watched the movie after seeing and falling in love with Firefly. How much more painful is that movie when you love the characters before it even starts? Joss Whedon is just fantastic... can I say this enough? Nope don't think so. Once we get passed the genius writing part I also love that he takes the time to every so often post on Whedonesque. He may be rich and famous and yet he still takes the time to stop by and see what his fans are up to and to drop a hello note. Awesome. But for tonight, just so much Firefly/Serenity love. I love the world he created there... I so wish he could have had more seasons to work with that idea because it was just so solid. Hullo FOX, thanks for not getting it, you have further confirmed that you are idiots. I just don't see how anyone who had the access to the scripts for the first season and who knew the plot arcs could not get it...

that rant could go on for a while... so moving on:

Hehe on WaT this week (I think this week) the guest star played Saffron on Firefly. Perhaps I can enjoy the episode.... go guest stars, save the show! If it's the infamous kitten episode I may indeed laugh myself silly. We go from great television to television that has the oddest writing I've seen on a series that is still on the air. Honestly, the writers have very little consistancy, some weeks I'm surprised they manage to keep the characters names straight. The worst problem that is driving me crazy right now is the Martin drug addiction storyline... beyond it being predictable... how is he addicted one week, and then fine the next episode, then freaking out the next week and then totally fine again...? Now, I personally have not had a pain killer addiction but I do not believe they give you weeks off in your cravings for the drugs. Seriously, a little continuity, it's a main plot arc for the season, you'd think that perhaps they'd have a chart or something in the offices so that every writer knows the stories that are supposed to be taking place in the background.

I'd really like Joss Whedon to come back to television.... I love that he's doing movies, and for sure I'll be seeing them... but he excells in the television art form and seeing the growth in his three shows, what the man would come up with if he had the chance for another show... I just think it would certainly be worth watching... unlike most tv this year which has made me not watch tv much at all.... which is for the best, I don't even think I want cable when I move out anymore... what a change from a year ago lol.
elizalavelle: (hard out here for a pimp)
This is mostly a GIP because I love this icon that [livejournal.com profile] awmp made and haven't used it yet lol

Anyways other than that I am having so much Firefly/Serenity love right now. I think I get my dvds back tomorrow... time for a rewatching I think :)

for now, time for bed... because once again I'm awake far too late.
elizalavelle: (TWoP VM)
Gah, I just read the TWoP recap of Serenity, I hadn't had the time to do it last week when it was posted. Seriously, first purchase when I get paid and after I pay some bills... Serenity. That's it. I just bawled through the review. Oh Joss, I hate you and love you. One of the best writers ever and I love that this movie is still winning all sorts of awards and such and being recognized for the greatness it is.
elizalavelle: (Inara paradise)
Oh no, tonight Morena Baccarin (from Firefly) is guest starring on the O.C. I may have to watch it... I've been making fun of this weeks episode already due to the preview with the little sister calling Marissa going "I'm escared he's akin crazy" Way to speak kid. I think she's already taking drugs from Mischa.

If my brain implodes I'm suing Fox.
elizalavelle: (River duh)
Well will you look at that, I learned how to install a mood theme :)

This is the Firefly mood theme that [livejournal.com profile] buffychit created. I love it :) Her instructions were also great because I managed to get this installed with so little trouble :)

Wonderful :D
elizalavelle: (River duh)
Sooooooooo how bad is it that I just stayed up until 3am to finish watching the Firefly dvds? I still have a few of the special features to work through but other than that I'm done. And I'd like to hug all of the characters now please. Joss is a brilliant brilliant man and I think he did such a phenominal job with this one. We get all of the TV angst and all of that good stuff BUT also I didn't dislike any character. It's not like the characters are all good (because that would piss me off) rather it's that he wrote such real flawed people.

Brilliant.

I'll admit, the "cowboys in space" theme threw me when the show first came out. It just wasn't really my genre at all and I figured it was Fox trying to cash in on Joss's success and pushing out a show that hadn't been thought all of the way through yet... Clearly I was wrong. This is a show that was thought through from beginning to it's all too soon end.

Another movie please?

Serious Joss love going on right now.
elizalavelle: (Inara paradise)
Viv, reasons why I must make you watch Firefly, outside of it's brilliance... Melinda Clarke guest stars in the second to last episode. Random. But fabulous.

(also I've been watching the last two DVDs of the set tonight and am not stopping until I'm done... this is how good they are.)
elizalavelle: (River knows)
I finally started watching my Firefly DVD's last night. I've since watched: Serenity, The Train Job, Bushwacked, and Shindig. Damn brilliant! Joss is a television god. Fox obviously sucked bigtime by airing The Train Job as the premiere and holding Serenity until the end of their season. Seriously, don't sell anything of any quality to Fox.

Firefly rocks.

Joss is a god.

/end post.
