Woot! I've finished off my Christmas with two awesome gifts that are both perfect for me. Jo got me a Wizard of Oz day by day calendar which I am putting on my desk at work since it's sadly lacking in Oz stuff :) Then tonight Dell told me she got me the second part to a book I'd leant to her but I couldn't remember what book I'd leant to her at all. Turns out it was The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor which is a fantastic spin on the Alice in Wonderland story. I had no idea a sequel had been written! Fantastic surprise and I can't wait to read it! I've done 2 books already and am into my third of the year and it's a good page turner so I hope to be on to the Alice (or Alyss if you will) books by this weekend :) I love my friends :)

Oz fans ahoy!

Watch the awesome trailer for the Tin Man mini series that's going to be on SciFi next month: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Sjnie-aqYw

I'm reading the first of the new Oz books I've found called The Emerald Wand of Oz right now and loving it to bits! I wish it were easier to find different Oz books in stores. I clearly need an Oz store near to where I live.

This thought then of course led me to browse through a lot of online Oz merchandise stores. I'm being good and not buying but I'm enjoying window shopping :)

I forgot to post about my new Oz find. I went by the BMV last night to pick up some more kids books to read while tutoring. Most of my books that are aimed at younger kids are packed away at my parents' house. So I was browsing the kids section and found the Robert Sabuda Wizard of Oz pop up book (this one) that Andrea had mentioned when I last posted about finding Oz books. It's the first one of these books that I've seen second hand that hasn't been destroyed. It was in perfect condition, some of the pages I don't think were ever opened!

I also found this book of children's poetry which I bought because it was just so cute :)

I really shoudn't be allowed to go to the bookstore lol. On the plus side I did find some great books to read with kids when I tutor.

I am a happy book geek. I had to head downtown for an errand and thought I'd wander through the BMV since it had been a while since I last was there. I found the full set of 4 Wizard of Oz pop up books in their box these ones. I previously had bought two of them (I think The Yellow Brick Road and Emerald City) but I hadn't seen the other two around. So this was lovely to find.

Then I found this edition of Mary Poppins/Mary Poppins comes back from either 1963 or 1964. It has colour illustrations! My other versions of these books are all black and white.

AND last but not least a copy of Jack and Jill by Louisa May Alcott from 1928. I've never read this one of hers. All very exciting :)

Lots of icons. Mostly Jossverse of course. A few Judy Garland, Nancy Drew and Rachel McAdams :)
